Seismic analysis of precast concrete structures

Abstract

After basic description of precast concrete structures, the paper continues with presentation of Eurocode 8 provisions for the design of such structures. Methods applied in seismic analysis, i.e. the force method and the displacement method, are described. Steps used in the analysis according to the force-based method are presented, and the displacement-based method is described in full detail. The comparison of practical use of these methods is given. In conclusion, the authors assert that the displacement-based method is more appropriate for the seismic design of precast concrete structures.
